Lukashenko sends Independence Day greetings to Georgia

MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili and all residents of this country on Independence Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“For a millennium, the Georgian people fought courageously for their statehood and their identity and believed in the bright future of their country that was a place where the interests of large empires classed,” the message of congratulations reads.

Minsk thinks highly of Tbilisi's efforts to preserve sovereignty and believes that they will certainly contribute to the prosperity of Georgia, the president noted.

“I am confident that the long history of Belarus-Georgia friendly relations will become a solid foundation for the resumption of mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries, will contribute to the well-being of our peoples, promote stability and security on the Eurasian continent,” the head of state emphasized.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Mikheil Kavelashvili good health; he also wished all Georgians happiness, inexhaustible energy, peace and harmony.
